Backing

  • Be sure to remove selvages from the seam, and press the seam open or flat to one side. Pieced backings can cause puckering when quilted if the fabric was not cut on the grain. Make sure your backing does not have puckered spots.

  • Backing needs to be 4 inches bigger all the way around (if your top is 60″ x 80″, the backing should be 68″ x 88″). I need the extra fabric to attach your backing to the rollers on my machine.

  • Check to be sure your backing is square.

Batting

  • You may provide your own, will only quilt on batting that has two pieces pieced together.

  • I use Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 that I can provide for $10.00 yd (96”wide) or 100% cotton batting.

  • Batting needs to be 3-4 inches bigger all the way around.

Thread

I use Glide thread, which has a slight sheen and the look of Rayon.
